Moonlight

Tonight, I haven't painted yet
Tonight
I've been singing, writing
and dreaming.

Moonlight is my confidant
she just visited my chaste white poetry sheets
and dwelt there --
she belongs to poetry
belongs to my songs
and my wide awakening dream

Tonight is also for thoughts
my disordered reason suddenly starts thinking
something beautiful
and it was moonlight
who is telling me
what “beauty” means

Tonight, I have not painted yet,
tonight, I sleep in my poems - who
shower under
the silver moonlight - where
I dream
the Moon

  1. This is absolutely gorgeous to read and envision...I especially love the "chaste white poetry sheets" and "where I dream the Moon." Sigh. Just beautiful. Wonderful to meet you in the Pantry, and I hope you will keep posting. I love your work.

  4. This is just beautiful, Yung yi. There really is a parallel between writing and painting, isn't there? A poet paints with words, but there is something about a brush.... And no matter what the medium moonlight is a wonderful confidant. So nice to see you at Poets United!

  6. It is under the moonlight where we find all sorts of ease and peace on starry nights near home. Wonderful.

  13. A classic that reminds me of some of the Tang Dynasty poems —actually, translations.
